Character List

 -Bruno: Bruno is the main character on the novel.  He is a curios nine-year-old boy, with the mind on an explorer, which leads him in discovering Shmuel and the camp.

-Mother (Elsa): This Bruno’s kind, but strict mother.

-Father (Ralf): He is Bruno’s father who had just received the position of the new commandant for the Nazi’s, which cause the family to move to Out-With.

-Gretel: Gretel is Bruno’s 12 year old, mean older sister who he prefers to call a hopeless case.

-Maria: Maria is the family made and she’s been working to Bruno and his family since Bruno was 3 years old.

 

-Lieutenant Kolter: Lieutenant Kurt Kotler is a very young solider, and is father's subordinate.

-Shmuel: Shmuel is the same aged boy as Bruno across the fence. Because he is Jewish, was trapped in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

-Grandmother (Nathalie): Bruno’s Grandmother from his Father’s side of the family and is ashamed of her son, doing what he does.

-Grandfather (Matthias): Bruno’s Grandfather from His Father’s side of the family and unlike his wife, he embraces what his son does for a living.

-Herr Liszt: Herr Liszt is Bruno’s and Gretel’s new Tutor in Out-With and believed in only reading books about important matters like history.

-Pavel: Pavel is a Jew that peels potatoes and carrots and waiters the food for Bruno’s family.

-Fury (Adolf Hitler): He is the German General and blames the Jews for Germany's economic issues, so he ordered to keep as many Jews as possible in the concentration camps

-Eva: Eva is the beautiful blonde women that came to Bruno’s house as the Fury’s date.

-Karl: Karl is one of Bruno’s best friends back in berlin.

-Daniel: Daniel is also one of Bruno’s best friends back in berlin.

-Lars: Lars is the Family’s butler.

-Martin: Martin is the last of the four best friends in berlin.

-Sergeant Hoffschneider: He has spear tires and cherishes them very much which is why he wouldn’t give one to Bruno to create his swing.
